This Is About Life
Lung Cancer, A Fighter, and the Super Bowl
Paul Kalanithi, neurosurgeon and never-smoker, was diagnosed with stage four lung cancer in 2013–but he didn’t let that stop him from living his life. In January 2015, he won the Team Draft Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge and brought his wife and young daughter (born in 2014) to the Super Bowl and the Taste of the NFL.
The Team Draft Lung Cancer Survivors Super Bowl Challenge rallied lung cancer survivors–those who had been diagnosed with lung cancer–to raise funds for research. The survivor who raised the most won tickets to the 2015 Super Bowl and the Taste of the NFL party.
We were honored to be able to follow Paul’s trip and help tell his story. Watch the video here, and consider making a donation to our partners, Team Draft, or the Paul Kalanithi Memorial Fund, created to help recruit and support rural students in the pursuit of a transformative education.
