Finding Inspiration and Cheer During the Holiday Season

Once a year, Denver Mattress general manager of manufacturing Bob Rensink, opens his warehouse to Basket of Joy, an annual event that creates and delivers fruit baskets and handmade cards to seniors during the holiday season. Basket of Joy was created by Denver Post columnist Woody Paige and Vice President of Albertsons’ Produce Procurement Dan Sutton in 1988 to help spread holiday cheer to what they felt was a segment of our population that’s forgotten. Since then, the Volunteers of America (VoA) have helped distribute these baskets to spread joy to senior citizens throughout the Denver Metro area.
