Cancer Survivors Help Support Children’s Burn Camp

Every year, the Baton Rouge General Hospital children’s burn unit I’m Still Me Camp helps dozens of kids who have been scarred by burns. But the camp couldn’t exist without fundraising and help from organizations like the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) chapter 995, which holds an annual golf tournament to benefit the burn unit.

Both the IBEW and the Baton Rouge General Hospital have their own survivors’ tales to tell: Mike Clary, business manager for IBEW Local 995, and Beth Veasey, president of the Baton Rouge General Foundation, have both battled cancer. Without vigilance and perseverance, neither of them would be here to help support the burn camp.
